DGFT amends the Import Policy for Paper

Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on May 25, 2022, has issued an amendment to import policy of Paper and incorporation of policy condition. This will be in effect from October 1, 2022.

The following has been amended namely: -

• Following items have been revised from ‘Free’ to Free subject to compulsory registration under Paper Monitoring System (PIMS): -

1. Glazed Newsprint

2. Other Newsprint

3. Hand Made Paper

• Paper Import Monitoring System (PIMS) shall require importers to: -

1. Submit advance information in an online system for the import of items.

2. Obtain an automatic Registration Number by paying a registration fee of Rs. 500. 

3. The importer can apply for registration not earlier than the 75th day and not later than the 5th day before the expected date of arrival of import consignment.
