FSSAI notifies regarding the tight vigil against adulteration in edible oils, trans-fatty acids and sale of Multi Source Edible Oils without proper labelling

Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on August 16, 2022 has issued notification regarding the tight vigil of FSSAI against adulteration in edible oils, trans-fatty acids and sale of Multi Source Edible Oils without proper labelling.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Surveillance samples of the products were to be lifted in a staggered manner from the markets by the Commissioners of Food Safety in all States/UTs, so that the sample base is wider.

• The sample once collected, has been sent to accredited food testing laboratories for swift analysis.

• Any suspected case of adulteration shall be followed by immediate drawing of regulatory samples to take legal action against such FBOs as per the specified provisions.

• Massive sensitization and promotional activities were also conducted by the States/UTs across channels including print as well as digital media to spread general awareness among people about the issue of adulteration.
