The Labour Factories Boilers & Insurance Medical Services Department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh on June 29, 2026, issued the Code on Wages (Andhra Pradesh) Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• The Rules prescribe the procedure for fixation and revision of minimum wages, calculation of hourly, daily and monthly wages, revision of Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) twice every year based on the Consumer Price Index, and regulation of working hours, weekly rest days, overtime wages, and night shifts.
• They also lay down detailed provisions relating to the payment of wages, contract workers, permissible deductions, the recovery of advances and loans, and the procedure for imposing fines and deductions, after allowing employees to be heard.
• The Rules establish the constitution and functioning of the Andhra Pradesh State Advisory Board to advise the Government on wage-related matters and prescribe procedures for payment of undisbursed wages, employee nominations, filing of wage claims and appeals, inquiry into offences, and compounding of offences.
• Further, employers are required to maintain statutory registers, issue wage slips, preserve records for five years, and file prescribed returns electronically.
• The Rules also prescribe standardized forms for employee registers, wage registers, attendance registers, wage slips, claims, appeals, nomination, notices, and compounding of offences, thereby creating a comprehensive framework for effective implementation and enforcement of wage-related provisions under the Code in Andhra Pradesh.
