Finance & Taxation Compliance The Ministry of Finance, on August 03, 2026, has revised the central excise duty on Petrol and Diesel amending its previous Notification No. 06/2026-Central Excise dated March 26, 2026.

The following has been stated:

• Excise duty on Petrol has been revised to ₹3.5 per litre.

• Excise duty on Diesel has been revised to ₹24 per litre.

The revised rates came into effect on August 03, 2026, the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
