The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), on August 10, 2026, amended Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.) to revise the tariff values for specified imported goods under section 14(2) of the Customs Act, 1962. The revised tariff values will come into effect from August 11, 2026.
Under the amended tariff value tables, the tariff value for gold has been fixed at USD 1,395 per 10 grams and for silver at USD 2,076 per kilogram for the specified categories of imports. The notification also retains the existing tariff values for crude palm oil, RBD palm oil, palmolein, crude soybean oil, brass scrap, and areca nuts, with no changes to their applicable tariff values.
The notification substitutes Table-1, Table-2 and Table-3 of the principal notification to reflect the updated tariff values, which are used for customs valuation of the specified imported goods.
