The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), on August 11, 2026, announced the premature redemption price for Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2018-19 Series VI, issued on February 12, 2019. Under the applicable SGB framework, premature redemption is permitted after completion of the fifth year from the date of issue, on an interest payment date. Accordingly, the next premature redemption date for this tranche is August 12, 2026.
The redemption price is determined based on the simple average of the closing price of gold of 999 purity for the preceding three business days, as published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd. (IBJA). Based on the closing prices for August 7, August 10 and August 11, 2026, the redemption price has been fixed at ₹15,102 per SGB unit.
Eligible SGB holders of the 2018-19 Series VI tranche may therefore avail premature redemption on August 12, 2026 at ₹15,102 per unit, in accordance with the applicable SGB Scheme provisions.
