Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Tamil Nadu on July 24, 2026, issued amendments to the Tamil Nadu Liquor Retail Vending (in Shops and Bars) Rules, 2003.

The following has been stated: -

•The amendment to the Tamil Nadu Liquor Retail Vending (in Shops and Bars) Rules, 2003 allows bars to be located either adjoining the liquor shop or within 100 metres, subject to prescribed conditions. 

•The permissible plinth area for bars is increased from 15 sq. metres to 20 sq. metres. 

•The provision requiring the Collector to decide the plinth area for bars exceeding 15 sq. metres is omitted. The amendment is made under Section 54 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937.
