The Government of Meghalaya on August 14, 2026, issued a notification regarding State-Wide Distribution Freeze and Prohibition on Sale, Stocking and Distribution of 'STING' Energy Drink.
The following has been stated: -
•The Meghalaya Food Safety Commissioner has imposed an immediate statewide freeze and prohibition on the sale, stocking, display, marketing and distribution of “STING” Energy Drink due to concerns regarding caffeine levels, ingredients, labelling compliance and potential health hazards.
•All FBOs are directed to isolate existing stock and maintain status quo, with unauthorised movement or disposal liable to penal action under the FSS Act, 2006.
•The prohibition will remain in force across Meghalaya until further orders, pending completion and evaluation of laboratory analysis.
