Industry Specific ComplianceThe Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) on June 29, 2026, notified regarding the Standard Properties of Chemical Additives for dust suppression to be used in Coal Mines.

The following has been stated:

• It has amended the testing provisions under Para 2(i) of DGMS Circular No. DGMS/S&T/Tech. Cir. (Approval) No. 06 dated February 24, 2015, concerning the standard properties of chemical additives used in dust suppression systems in coal mines. To prevent the use of toxic and hazardous chemicals and promote wider participation of manufacturers and suppliers, testing may now be conducted at any Government Laboratory, Test House, or Institute having all the required testing facilities, including the institutions previously specified in the Circular. 

• The amendment follows the recommendations of a review committee comprising representatives of DGMS and scientific institutions and is aligned with the Government’s Ease of Doing Business initiative
