The Goods and Service Tax Network (GSTN) on September 06, 2024, issued a notification regarding the Advisory for Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication and Document Verification for GST Registration Applicants of Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka and Punjab.
Recent updates in the GST registration process now include Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication for applicants based on data analysis and risk parameters under Rule 8 of the CGST Rules, 2017. This feature has been introduced in Bihar, Delhi, Karnataka, and Punjab from 6th September 2024. Upon submitting Form GST REG-01, applicants will receive a link via email for either OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication or booking an appointment to visit a designated GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for biometric authentication and document verification.
Applicants receiving the appointment link must book a visit to the GSK, carrying the required documents including the Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with the original documents submitted during registration. The biometric verification and document authentication process at the GSK must be completed within the permissible period indicated in the intimation email. Once this process is complete, the Application Reference Number (ARN) will be generated to confirm the applicant's GST registration.
