The Government of Tamil Nadu on March 17, 2025, issued amendments to the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Rules, 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In rule 289, after sub-rule (1), a proviso shall be added, namely: “Provided that the Commissioner shall grant licence, for the trade or business other than the trade or business specified in the Schedules I, II and III.”
• In rule 290, in sub-rule (1), the expression “for a period of three years”, shall be substituted with the expression “upto the 31st day of March of the third year”.
• After rule 300, a new rule shall be inserted, namely: “300-A. Payment of licence fee.- The licence fee levied under this Chapter shall be collected for one year or two years or three years, as the case may be, as desired by the licencee.”
