The Health and Family Welfare Department (HFWD), Government of Gujarat, vide notification dated October 14, 2025, has officially brought into effect the provisions of the Gujarat Medical Practitioners’ (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Guj. 15 of 2025). Exercising the powers conferred under sub-section (2) of section 1 of the said Act, the Government has appointed September 19, 2025, as the commencement date for its enforcement.
The amendment aims to update and streamline the regulatory framework governing medical practitioners in Gujarat, ensuring alignment with contemporary healthcare standards, professional qualifications, and practice norms.
With this notification, all provisions under the amended Act are now legally operational, empowering the State authorities to implement the revised rules and provisions concerning the registration, recognition, and regulation of medical practitioners across Gujarat.
