The Government of Goa on November 06, 2025, notified regarding the declaration of the Pharmaceutical Sector as an Essential Service under the Goa Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1988.
It has declared the manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and transportation of pharmaceutical products and their components as an essential service. This decision was taken recognizing that any strike in this sector could disrupt vital public health supplies and services and cause grave hardship to the community. The notification ensures the uninterrupted availability of medicines and medical supplies critical to citizens' well-being.
