The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW) issued the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) (Eleventh Amendment) Order, 2025, to further amend the Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003.
The following has been stated:
The amendment to Schedule VI introduces new entries related to plant import regulations. Under Serial Number 262, pertaining to Pyrus communis (pear), seeds and saplings for human consumption and processing imported from Bhutan are now included. These imports must be free from soil, quarantine weed seeds, and other plant debris.
Additionally, a new entry (Serial No. 793) is added for Panicum miliaceum, specifying that seeds for consumption and processing imported from Bhutan must also be free from soil, quarantine weed seeds, and plant debris.
This shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
