The Commissioner of Labour, Uttar Pradesh, on September 18, 2025, issued the standard operating procedure for inspection and follow-up under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996.
The following has been stated:
It is directed to ensure that the process of inspection and follow-up action and cess assessment, and cess collection is carried out as per the prescribed standard operating procedure (SOP) approved by the government and as per the provisions of the relevant acts. Further to establish personal contact with the authority/organisations related to construction in your respective areas, by which the process of cess assessment and cess collection is carried out, and to make available to them the SOP, and to carry out further actions accordingly.
