The Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh Administration on November 10, 2025, notified regarding the mandatory identity verification for guests in Chandigarh Lodging and Hospitality Establishments.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It has directed all Hotels, Guest Houses, Restaurants, and Sarais to strictly verify the identity of all guests. The order was issued following inputs from police regarding possible misuse of such premises by anti-social elements for unlawful or terrorist activities.
• Establishments shall maintain a visitor register containing details like name, address, contact number, ID proof, and signature of each guest.
• Acceptable ID proofs include Aadhaar, Voter ID, Driving Licence, Passport, or Photo Credit Card.
• The order is effective from November 10, 2025, to January 8, 2026, for a period of 60 days.
