The Urban Administration and Development Department, Govt. of Chhattisgarh on November 07, 2025, issued the Chhattisgarh Municipality (Trade Licensing) Rules, 2025.
This shall come into force from November 07, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The rules shall extend to the entire area under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Nagar Panchayats.
• It states that no person shall be permitted to carry out any trade within the municipal limits without obtaining a Trade License from the concerned municipality.
• Any person wishing to conduct trade within a municipal area shall apply for a Trade License in Form A, which shall be granted within 15 days or deemed approved if no decision is made. Existing traders without a license shall apply within 60 days of these Rules’ commencement.
• Trade License fees shall be paid in advance for the selected validity period between 2 to 10 years. Renewal applications shall be filed at least one month before expiry, with decisions made within 15 days or deemed renewed if delayed. Late renewals attract penalties—15% within 6 months, ₹10 per day after 6 months, and cancellation with sealing of premises if not renewed within a year.
• Licensees shall display their Trade License prominently, comply with all government and municipal directions, avoid encroachments or unauthorized displays, and prevent nuisances like smoke, noise, or pollution from their premises.
