The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW), on November 4, 2025, notified the Draft Insecticides (Amendment) Rules, 2025 to further amend the Insecticides Rules, 1971. The draft has been published for public consultation, inviting objections and suggestions from stakeholders within 30 days of its publication in the Gazette of India.
The proposed amendment seeks to modify Rule 10(1A) of the Insecticides Rules, 1971, specifically the proviso therein, by extending the existing deadline of “30th June, 2024” to “30th June, 2026”. This extension aims to provide additional time for compliance or procedural requirements related to the registration and regulation of insecticides as governed by the rule. The amendment reflects the Ministry’s effort to ensure smooth implementation while allowing sufficient transition time for stakeholders in the agricultural and agrochemical sectors.
Stakeholders may submit their feedback to the Joint Secretary (Plant Protection), Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, or via email. The final rules will be published following consideration of all representations received.
