The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on November 11, 2025, notified regarding the recognition of Self-Regulatory Organisation for Payment System Operators.
The RBI has recognised the Self-Regulated PSO Association (SRPA) as the Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) for Payment System Operators (PSOs). This follows RBI’s earlier frameworks - the Framework for Recognition of Self-Regulatory Organisation (SRO) for Payment System Operators (PSOs)’ on October 22, 2020, and an ‘Omnibus framework for recognition of SROs for Regulated Entities of the Reserve Bank’ on March 21, 2024, inviting applications from eligible associations for SRO recognition.
