Labour ComplianceThe Government of Sikkim on October 10, 2025, has declared the list of Public Holidays to be observed during the Calendar Year 2026 in all Government Offices, Public Sector Undertakings, and Educational Institutions across the State. The notification, published in the Sikkim Government Gazette Extraordinary (No. 391) on October 11, 2025, specifies that a total of 49 public holidays will be observed in the year 2026.

The schedule includes major national holidays such as Republic Day (January 26), Independence Day (August 15), and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), along with prominent local festivals like Losar, Saga Dawa, Pang Lhabsol, Durga Puja (Dasain), Lhabab Duechen, Deepawali, and Losoong/Namsoong. In addition, all Second and Fourth Saturdays will be treated as holidays for Government offices, PSUs, and educational institutions.The notification further provides a list of Restricted Holidays, of which each Government employee may avail one holiday per year. These include occasions such as Labour Day, Ubhauli Sakewa, Birthday of Late Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and Chhat Puja, among others. The declaration has been made in the name and by the order of the Governor of Sikkim.
