The Government of Himachal Pradesh, on November 11, 2025, notified the Himachal Pradesh Municipal (Amendment) Act, 2025, further to amend the Himachal Pradesh Municipal Act, 1994.
The following has been stated: -
•The amendment allows the first election to a municipality to be conducted within two years of its notification as a municipality.
•The Himachal Pradesh Municipal (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, is repealed. However, actions taken under the repealed Ordinance shall be considered valid under this Act.
It shall be deemed to have come into force on August 13, 2025.
