EHS ComplianceThe Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) on November 13, 2025, notified the Gas Cylinders (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2025, further to amend the Gas Cylinders Rules, 2016.

The following has been stated: -

•In rule 2, for clause (xxviii), the following clause shall be substituted, and the clause defines a “gas cylinder” as a closed metal container of >500 ml and ≤1000 L for storing or transporting compressed gases, including LPG, LNG, CNG, hydrogen, composite and cryogenic containers, excluding those on special transports.

•It allows larger cylinders up to 3000 L for hydrogen, CNG, nitrogen, and compressed air, with specified maximum diameter limits (60 cm for nitrogen/air and 80 cm for hydrogen/CNG).

They shall come into force on November 14, 2025.
