Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), on November 13, 2025, has exercised its powers under sub-sections (1) and (3) of Section 18 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 to formally establish the Data Protection Board of India (DPBI). The Board has been constituted to exercise powers and perform functions assigned to it under the said Act.

As per the notification, the Data Protection Board of India shall come into existence with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the Official Gazette. The Board will serve as the statutory authority responsible for adjudicating breaches, overseeing compliance, and ensuring the protection of digital personal data in India.

Further, the head office of the Data Protection Board of India shall be located in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India, providing administrative and functional accessibility for nationwide data governance operations.
