The Government of India on November 12, 2025, has exercised its powers under Section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016 (11 of 2016) to rescind the earlier notification prescribing quality standards for Polyester Partially Oriented Yarn. The decision was made in public interest after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
The rescinded notification—S.O. 3194(E), dated July 17, 2023, and published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii)—had specified mandatory BIS standards for Polyester Partially Oriented Yarn under the Quality Control regime.
With this order, the earlier notification stands rescinded with immediate effect, meaning it shall cease to be in force from the date of publication, except for any actions taken or omissions made before such rescission.
