The Government of Bihar on August 19, 2025, issued the official declaration of public and optional holidays for the calendar year 2026 applicable to all State Government offices and Revenue Magistrate Courts across Bihar.
As per the notification, all government offices and revenue courts shall remain closed on the general holidays specified in Schedule–1, while State Government employees will be entitled to avail a maximum of three optional holidays during the year from the list provided in Schedule–2. Further, in accordance with Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, read with the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No. 20-25/26/Parv-1, dated June 8, 1957, the holidays listed in Schedule–3 shall be observed as public holidays for banks within the State.
Additionally, the Government has notified the Annual Bank Accounts Closing Holiday for 2026, as per the details enclosed in Annexure–4. These orders are issued under the Executive powers of the State and shall be applicable uniformly across Bihar.
