The University Grants Commission (UGC) on November 13, 2025, notified regarding the Tele Mental Health Assurance and Networking across States (Tele MANAS).
The following has been stated namely: -
• It emphasizes student well-being and highlights initiatives such as MANODARPAN and UGC’s well-being guidelines for higher educational institutions.
• The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare’s Tele MANAS programme, launched on October 10, 2022, provides free, 24×7 tele-mental health services nationwide and has already handled over 23 lakh calls through 53 centres. To expand access, a video consultation platform and a Tele MANAS mobile app (English & Hindi) have been introduced, with regional versions underway.
• Higher Education Institutions are asked to widely publicize helpline numbers (14416/1800-891-4476), display the app QR code, screen mental-health IEC videos, and engage faculty and student groups as peer mental-health champions.
