The Govt. of Tripura on November 04, 2025, issued the Tripura Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Act, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It aims to amend and repeal certain state enactments to decriminalise and rationalise offences, strengthening trust-based governance and improving ease of doing business.
• The Schedule to the Act specifies various Tripura laws that are amended, detailing the exact changes to penalties, compliance provisions, and procedural requirements.
• A major reform includes automatic revision of fines and penalties, which will increase by 10% every three years from the date of commencement, ensuring periodic updating without further legislative action.
• A comprehensive saving clause ensures that repeals or amendments do not affect existing rights, liabilities, proceedings, or references made under earlier laws.
• The Act also clarifies that its amendments do not revive repealed provisions, nor affect established legal principles, practices, or recognised usages already in force.
