The Government of Puducherry on November 05, 2025, issued the Puducherry Village and Commune Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 2025.
This shall come into force on November 05, 2025.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 121 shall be substituted. It states that these provisions require all businesses within a Commune Panchayat to obtain a trade licence—valid up to five years—with mandatory renewal, and allow revocation for false information, while ensuring that timely renewal applications filed under the previous law are considered under the new Act. Existing rules continue to apply unless inconsistent with this chapter.
• Section 122 shall be omitted.
• Section 123 in sub-section (1), clause (c) shall be omitted.
• Section 123, the sub-section (2) and the proviso clause thereunder, shall be omitted.
