The Government of Telangana, on November 15, 2025, issued a notification regarding amendments to the Telangana Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.
The following has been stated: -
•Rule 81 updated: Sub-rules (1), (2), and (4) omitted; sub-rule (3) substituted to allow online reservation of special vehicle numbers with specified fee slabs ranging from Rs. 1,50,000 to Rs. 6,000 /Rs. 3,000 for two-wheelers.
•Applications for reservation must be submitted online only between 8:00 AM–1:00 PM, with current numbers reservable for Rs. 2,000.
•In case of multiple applications, allotment will be through online bidding from 2:00 PM–4:00 PM; non-bidders forfeit the fee, and 10% of the reservation fee is non-refundable for unsuccessful bidders.
•Reserved numbers must be used within 15 days, failing which the reservation is cancelled and re-notified; unused numbers may be referred to the Transport Commissioner for further action.
