The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on November 18, 2025, issued Draft Incorporation of new STCW Competence on “Prevention of and Response to Violence and Harassment, including Sexual Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Assault” in PSSR Course, which is a part of Basic Safety Training (BST) (Course ID 6101 / 6141).
The following has been stated: -
•The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) is incorporating a new STCW competence on "Prevention of and Response to Violence and Harassment, including Sexual Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Assault" into the Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (PSSR) course.
•This amendment, driven by IMO's Maritime Safety Committee decisions, adds three (03) hours to the PSSR course (making the total duration 29 hours/4 days), effective from December 01, 2025.
•Existing seafarers must complete a related e-learning course via the DGS Online ADU Learning Management System. The change aims to ensure a safe and respectful working environment on board ships.
•This draft has been uploaded on the DGS website for public comments for a period of 7 days till including up to November 25, 2025.
