The Urban Development and Housing Department (UDH) on November 14, 2025, issued a draft amendment to the Madhya Pradesh Bhumi Vikas Niyam, 2012. The amendment is proposed under the powers conferred by Section 85 read with Section 24(3) of the Madhya Pradesh Nagar Tatha Gram Nivesh Adhiniyam, 1973. It is published for public consultation, with objections and suggestions invited within 15 days of its publication in the state gazette.
The draft seeks to replace sub-rule (6) of Rule 5, introducing a comprehensive revision of the provisions governing green buildings. The substituted clause mandates that norms, standards, and incentives for energy-efficient and environmentally friendly green buildings shall be as specified in a newly introduced Appendix-M. This step reflects the State’s commitment to sustainable development and greener urban planning.
Additionally, Appendix-M, to be inserted after the existing Appendix-L, outlines incentives for green buildings accredited under various Indian green rating systems. The incentives aim to promote compliance with recognized environmental standards and encourage builders and developers to adopt sustainable construction practices across urban and rural areas of Madhya Pradesh.
