EHS ComplianceThe Kerala State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) on November 19, 2025, notified regarding the treated effluent standards for the sewage treatment plants.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The Board revises the discharge standards for treated sewage effluent from all STPs—whether standalone or attached to establishments—introducing differentiated norms based on disposal/use: (a) gardening/flushing/vehicle-wash, and (b) irrigation/soak-pit/other disposal. 

• For example, the BOD₃₍3 days, 27 °C₎ limit is set at < 6 mg/L for reuse uses and < 10 mg/L for irrigation/soak-pit, COD at < 25 and < 50 mg/L respectively. 

• The new standards are to be complied with within six months from the issuance of the earlier circular, allowing time for infrastructure and process adjustments.
