Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Steel (MoS) on November 20, 2025, notified regarding the revocation of requirement of clarification/No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Steel for import of grades of steel not covered by Quality Control Order of Ministry of Steel.

The Ministry clarified that steel grades not covered under any existing Quality Control Order (QCO) will no longer require a clarification or No Objection Certificate for import. These exempt grades have been mapped on the Steel Import Monitoring System (SIMS) portal, allowing importers to directly generate a SIMS number without additional approvals. This measure simplifies compliance and reduces delays in steel imports.
