Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Steel (MoS), on November 20, 2025, issued an order granting exemption from mandatory input adherence requirements for three Indian Standards relating to stainless-steel flat products—IS 6911, IS 5522 and IS 15997. This order supersedes the earlier directive issued on October 6, 2025, and follows representations received from stainless-steel importers.

The exemption applies exclusively to imported consignments with Bills of Lading having “shipped on board” dates on or before March 31, 2026. By relaxing the mandatory standard-compliance requirements, the Ministry aims to address industry concerns, ensure smoother import operations and prevent supply-chain disruptions during the transition period.

The order has been issued with the approval of the Competent Authority and is expected to provide temporary regulatory relief while enabling stakeholders to adjust to compliance requirements at a manageable pace.
