The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF), Government of India, on November 20, 2025, issued an order rescinding the earlier Vinyl Sulphone (Quality Control) Order, 2024. The decision has been taken under Section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, after due consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards, and in consideration of public interest.
Through this order, the Central Government has revoked the previous notification S.O. 4927(E) dated November 14, 2024, which had mandated quality control requirements for Vinyl Sulphone under the BIS framework. The rescission is effective immediately upon publication, thereby discontinuing the quality control obligations notified earlier for manufacturers, importers, and traders dealing in Vinyl Sulphone.
The move aims to provide regulatory relief, address industry representations, and enable smoother compliance conditions, while the Ministry continues to review sectoral requirements for future quality control measures, if necessary.
