The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF), on November 20, 2025, issued an order under Section 16 of the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016, rescinding the previously notified H Acid (Quality Control) Order, 2024. The decision was taken in the public interest after consultation with the Bureau of Indian Standards.
The rescinded order—originally issued via S.O. 4925(E) on November 14, 2024—had mandated quality control requirements for H Acid, a key intermediate in the dye and pigment industry. With the rescission coming into immediate effect, the earlier standards and compliance obligations under the quality control regime no longer apply.
This move forms part of the Ministry’s broader regulatory review aimed at reducing compliance burdens, addressing industry concerns, and ensuring that quality control measures remain proportionate and aligned with current market and technological realities.
