The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D) on November 20, 2025, issued a notification regarding amendments to the Veterinary Council of India (Procedure for recognition and de-recognition of the Veterinary Colleges and Veterinary Qualifications) Rules, 2017.
The following has been stated: -
•Three new colleges of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University—Udumalpet, Theni, and Salem—are added to the First Schedule of the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984.
•Their B.V.Sc. & A.H. degrees are now recognised veterinary qualifications.
•Recognition applies only to degrees awarded on or after October 08, 2026.
•These entries are inserted under the “Degree” section against Serial No. 40 of the Schedule.
