The Government of Himachal Pradesh, on October 23, 2025, notified the list of “Gazetted Holidays” to be observed across the State during the calendar year 2026. The notification also authorises all Government employees to avail two Restricted Holidays from the list provided in Annexure-III.
The Government further declared the holidays listed in Annexure-II as Gazetted Holidays exclusively for women employees working in all Government Offices, Boards, Corporations, and Educational Institutions in the State. These holidays shall also apply to women employees under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, including daily wage women employees. Additionally, holidays listed in Annexure-IV are declared Gazetted Holidays within the meaning of the said Act.
The notification empowers the Deputy Commissioners of all districts to declare two local holidays in 2026 in connection with important fairs and festivals. For offices within the Municipal limits of Shimla and those located in Delhi, local holidays shall be declared by the State Government upon receiving proposals from the respective authorities.
