The Government of Andhra Pradesh on September 25, 2025, issued the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Laws (Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2025, to further amend the Municipal Corporations Act, 1955 and the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act 1965.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In the Municipal Corporations Act, 1955, in section 2, in clause (46-a) which states “definition of the qualifying date” the following has been substituted namely: -
“In relation to the preparation and publication of every electoral roll under this Act, means the first day of January, the first day of April, the first day of July and the first day of October of the year in which it is so prepared and published
• In the Andhra Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1965, in Section 2, in clause (32-a), which states “definition of the qualifying date” the following has been substituted namely: -
“In relation to the preparation and publication of every electoral roll under this Act, means the first day of January, the first day of April, the first day of July and the first day of October of the year in which it is so prepared and published”
