The Department of Animal Husbandry, Uttar Pradesh, on November 14, 2025, issued a notification regarding the amendment to the policy promulgated in the context of the protection of destitute bovine species (Govansh) in the state.
The following has been stated: -
•The Uttar Pradesh Government has issued amendments to the 2019 policy on temporary Cow Shelters, in response to a prior letter dated September 15, 2025.
•The changes revise the meeting frequency of District and Divisional Monitoring Committees and introduce new Village-level and Urban Local Body committees with defined membership.
•Only the specified sections of the 2019 policy stand amended, while all other provisions remain unchanged. Necessary instructions have been circulated to relevant state departments and officers for implementation.
