The Government of Puducherry, on November 07, 2025, issued the Puducherry Factories (Amendment) Rules, 2025, further to amend the Puducherry Factories Rules, 1964.
The following has been stated: -
•The amendments modify multiple Schedules under Rule 105 to prohibit the employment of pregnant women, lactating mothers, and young persons in hazardous operations.
(1)– (4) They cannot work in baths, lead processes, dangerous operations, or processes involving lead compounds unless strict safety provisions apply.
(5) They are barred from entering buildings where dangerous petroleum gas generation occurs.
(6)– (7) They are prohibited from blasting operations or any hazardous process listed in the relevant schedules.
They shall come into force on November 07, 2025.
