The Government of Puducherry, on November 07, 2025, issued the Draft Puducherry Factories (Second Amendment) Rules, 202,5, further to amend the Puducherry Factories Rules, 1964.
The following has been stated: -
•After Rule 105, a new rule is inserted, and the new Rule 105A sets safety requirements for employing women in dangerous manufacturing processes. It mandates respiratory protection, training on hazards, and information in local languages with written consent. Pregnant and lactating women cannot be assigned hazardous work involving carcinogenic or teratogenic substances. Employers must provide protective equipment, emergency-escape training, and ensure women are not exposed to substances affecting reproductive health.
Objections or suggestions may be submitted within 45 days from November 07, 2025.
