The PIB Headquarters on November 22, 2025, notified the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH) Code, 2020.
The following has been stated: -
•The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSH) Code, 2020 consolidates 13 labour laws into a single framework, simplifying compliance through single registration, single licence, and digitized returns.
•It strengthens worker welfare with appointment letters, reduced leave eligibility, expanded coverage for migrant workers, free annual health check-ups, and safety committees.
•The Code promotes ease of doing business through higher factory thresholds, inspector-cum-facilitator system, third-party audits, and decriminalization of offences.
•It also includes women-centric reforms such as permitting night work with safeguards and universal crèche facilities.
