The Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) on November 14, 2025, issued a notification regarding Sugar mill-wise Export Quantity of sugar for export in Sugar Season 2025-26.
The following has been stated: -
•The Government has allocated 15 LMT export quota for sugar season 2025-26, distributed pro rata (5.286% of each mill’s 3-year average production) among operational mills.
•Mills may export directly or through exporters/refineries until September 30, 2026, with an option to surrender quota or exchange it with domestic quota till March 31, 2026, under specified procedures.
•Customs will permit export only against a valid quota, supported by required agreements, and no open-market sugar can be exported. Mills violating previous guidelines or with pending swap adjustments are ineligible.
•All exports must be reported monthly on the NSWS portal, and violations will invite action under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, and the FTDR Act, 1992.
