The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), on November 2025, issued directions to State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) and Pollution Control Committees (PCCs) of Delhi NCR regarding the mandatory installation of CSIR-NPL certified Online Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (OCEMS) in air-polluting industries operating within the NCR region. These directions reference earlier CPCB directives dated 01.10.2025 and 09.10.2025 concerning monitoring and connectivity protocols.
CPCB has clarified that CSIR–National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) has been designated as the national verification agency for certifying OCEMS under the national air-quality monitoring and instrumentation framework. As informed, CSIR-NPL has completed certification of 21 OCEMS models for various parameters, and the updated list of certified systems is available on the CPCB website. Only these certified models will be accepted for connectivity to the CPCB server.
Accordingly, CPCB has instructed all SPCBs/PCCs in NCR to ensure that industries under their jurisdiction install only CSIR-NPL certified OCEMS and regularly check the CPCB web-link for updates. Industries must also be directed to comply immediately with this requirement as only certified systems will be allowed for CPCB data connectivity.
