Labour ComplianceThe Government of Tripura on October 28, 2025, issued a notification regarding the revised Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) applicable to workers employed in various employment.

The revised Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) payable to workers across multiple scheduled employments in Tripura. The revision is based on the six-monthly average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the period January 01, 2025 to June 30, 2025, which stands at 63 points, forming the basis for upward wage adjustment from 1 October 2025. Employers in all listed employments must pay VDA from October 01, 2025, as mandated under the Minimum Wages Act. 

The wages for the following employment have been stated-

•Hotel and restaurant

•Public Motor Transport

•Agriculture

•Stone crushing

•Mechanical Workshops

•Rice Mills

•Loading and Unloading

•Domestic Workers

•Cooperative stores and societies

•Private teaching and institutes

•Auto Rickshaw

•Construction

•Private Security Guard 

•Petrol Pump

•Gold Smith

•Beedi Industry

•Rubber Plantation

•Incense stick

•Shops and Establishments

The State Government has clarified that the revised VDA is mandatory and forms part of the minimum rate of wages payable to all employees in the above employments. Employers are required to implement the revised wages from 1 October 2025 without delay and ensure full compliance during wage disbursal cycles. Any deviation will attract action under the Minimum Wages Act and related labour laws.
