The Government of Maharashtra, on August 25, 2025, issued the Draft Revised Development Plan of BNCMC: 2023 – 2043.
The following has been stated: -
•Bhiwandi-Nizampur lies within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and is one of its 17 designated urban centres.
•It is geographically surrounded by major neighbouring authorities—Kalyan-Dombivli (KDMC), Ulhasnagar, Thane Municipal Corporation, and Vasai-Virar.
•As an MMR member, BNCMC functions within the regional planning framework set by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
•Regional connectivity through highways and railways integrates Bhiwandi with surrounding cities and economic zones.
•Its statutory position ensures that local development plans align with the broader MMR regional plan and policies.
