EHS ComplianceThe Pune Municipal Corporation on November 18, 2025, notified regarding the ban on Open Burning of Waste and Bonfires in Pune City

The following has been stated namely: -

• It has prohibited burning of wood, coal, garbage, rubber, plastic, or biomass in open areas, including bonfires lit by security staff at night, as it increases PM2.5, PM10, carbon monoxide, and other harmful pollutants affecting public health. 

• The order cites the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, and National Clean Air Programme guidelines, which strictly ban outdoor burning. 

• If housing societies, commercial complexes, workers, or contractors violate this rule, penalties and legal action will be imposed by the PMC Solid Waste Management Department.
