The Government of Maharashtra, on November 28, 2025, issued the Maharashtra State Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services Policy – 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The State’s Information Technology and Information Technology–Enabled Services Policy-2023, notified vide Government Resolution dated 27.06.2023, has been implemented. Through this policy, the major objectives include positioning Maharashtra as the country’s technology capital and ensuring inclusive development based on innovative and sustainable technologies.
• To achieve the objectives laid down in the policy, special emphasis has been placed on the development of emerging technology sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Robotics, Automation, Quantum Computing, Virtual Reality (VR), Extended Reality (XR), Big Data, Machine Learning, Cyber Security, etc. These sectors are crucial for achieving the State’s ambitious goal of a USD 1-trillion economy.
• Developed countries have strong infrastructure supportive of industries based on advanced technologies. To attract strategic investments and technology in the competitive global market, it is necessary to create a positive and capable ecosystem for these sectors in Maharashtra. A network of high-quality incubation centres is essential to provide comprehensive support to startups and MSMEs in emerging technologies, enabling them to face market challenges and remain globally competitive.
