The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on November 28, 2025, issued a notification regarding a revision to the implementation date of new chargeback reason codes and clarification on good faith TAT reduction.
The following has been stated: -
•NPCI has extended the implementation date of circular 005 (new NRCS reason codes and chargeback guidelines) from December 01, 2025, to January 05, 2026, but five “Other Specify” reason codes will still be removed from December 01, 2025.
•Circular 006 is clarified to mean that the 90-day Good Faith TAT starts after the dispute TAT expires.
•Any Good Faith dispute raised after this period will be auto-rejected with reason code 3207 (TAT expired).
•Members must inform all relevant teams and ensure strict compliance.
